Senior Functional Analyst

Description

At Infrabel, you have the opportunity to collaborate on stimulating projects and play a key role in the functional and technical evolution of our software solutions. In this role, you will join the I-ICT.211 Traffic Data Solutions department, working on projects that are critical to the continuity and performance of Infrabel’s core business activities. These projects involve the consolidation and distribution of information related to railway traffic management—covering pre-processing, real-time operations, post-processing, and back-office functions—for various B2B stakeholders. This includes: Externally: • Railway undertakings operating on or transiting through our network; • Foreign infrastructure managers in neighboring countries; • European railway information consolidation platforms, such as RailNetEurope. Internally: • Real-time visualization of schedule changes for staff in our signal boxes; • Calculation of track access charges and invoicing for network usage; • Calculation of electricity consumption related to our operations; • Supplying data to Big Data-based expert systems. You will be involved in both new development initiatives and the corrective and adaptive maintenance of existing applications. As a Senior Functional Analyst, you are responsible for analyzing the requirements of all stakeholders—both internal and external—and translating these needs into functional and technical specifications for our applications. Drawing on your background in software development, you will work in close collaboration with the IT team, railway undertakings, and other operational units. Key tasks: 1. Needs analysis: Identify and document business needs and requirements using various methods. 2. Process optimization: Analyze existing processes and propose improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy. 3. Functional specifications: Develop functional specifications and detailed requirements. 4. Collaboration with the development team: Work closely with the development team to ensure that technical solutions meet business requirements. 5. Testing and validation: Develop test cases and scenarios, and conduct testing to verify that the application functions correctly and meets the defined requirements. 6. Impact analysis: Analyze the impact based on business requirements. Potential assets: 1. Demonstrable experience in impact analysis: Analyzing impact based on operational needs. 2. Demonstrable experience in drafting functional and technical documentation (work instructions, user guides). 3. Knowledge of the railway sector. The following soft skills are expected: - Motivation, alignment with values, and understanding of Infrabel’s mission - A proactive approach, resilience under pressure, and the ability to integrate well into a team.

Techskills: 

Experience in business and functional analysis within IT projects using the Agile/Scrum methodology (L4: at least 10 years of experience); experience with business requirement gathering methods (L4: at least 10 years of experience); experience creating user stories based on analysis and specifications (L4: at least 10 years of experience); experience with design and modeling techniques (UML, BPMN) (L3: at least 5 years of experience); experience documenting functional requirements (L3: at least 5 years of experience); experience defining test cases and test scenarios (L3: at least 5 years of experience); experience with APIs and web services (REST, SOAP) (L3: at least 5 years of experience); experience with IBM MQ (L3: at least 5 years of experience); experience with Elastic & Kibana (L3: at least 5 years of experience); experience with SQL and PL-SQL (L3: at least 5 years of experience); experience with .NET (L2: at least 2 years of experience); experience with XML/XSD file formats and designing XSD contracts (L3: at least 5 years of experience); Scrum Master certification (level: n/a); French or Dutch (one of the two languages) (C2: highly advanced proficiency); French or Dutch (for the other language) (B1: intermediate level); English (C1: advanced proficiency).
